Renée Vogen, a Chicago based freelance hornist and teacher, is the Third Horn with the Southwest Michigan Symphony Orchestra.

Additionally, Renée could be heard as a substitute musician with numerous ensembles including the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Chicago Philharmonic, Elgin Symphony Orchestra, Fort Wayne Philharmonic, Iceland Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra Iowa, South Bend Symphony Orchestra, Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra, and Gil Evans Chamber Jazz Ensemble. From 2016-2019 Renée was a member of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Additionally, in 2017-18 Renée performed as a substitute musician with New World Symphony.

Renée is the Adjunct Professor of Horn at Concordia University Chicago and South Suburban College. She is also a member of the Adjunct Faculty at DePaul University. Dedicated to social justice, Renée is a brass instructor at The People’s Music School and The Chicago High School for the Arts.

Renée earned her Master’s degree in horn performance from DePaul University under the tutelage of James Smelser, and her Bachelor’s in horn performance and Performer’s Certificate from the Eastman School of Music under the instruction of W. Peter Kurau.
