Darren Castellanos is the Bass Trombonist of New Chicago Brass. An active orchestral musician, Darren has performed with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, as well as numerous orchestras throughout the United States. From 2011-2013, Darren was Principal Bass Trombonist of the Civic Orchestra of Chicago. Darren has worked with world-renowned conductors including Loren Maazel, Riccardo Muti, Jaap van Zweden and Mark Elder to name a few.

A versatile musician, he has also shared the stage with the Millar Brass Ensemble, performed with many jazz and chamber groups, and has performed with pop artists including Smokey Robinson, Janelle Monae, and Amy Grant. A native of Key Largo, FL, Darren studied music performance at the Manhattan School of Music and DePaul University. He studied bass trombone with Charles Vernon, Steve Norrell, David Taylor, Mark Fisher, and Floyd Cooley.
